Location: Leicester Print Workshop, Leicester
Date: 28th February 2017
Details: Mark Ovenden’s book, Johnston And Gill – Very British Types celebrates Britain’s visual culture by investigating two seminal typefaces and their creators. This event commemorates the centenary of Johnston’s lettering for London Transport (‘London’s Handwriting’), and the 90th anniversary of Gill Sans, the undisputed corporate typeface of many modern British establishments.
Mark’s talk will be accompanied by an exhibition of the Gill Sans printing types that we have in our collection at Leicester Print Workshop, and the screening of a short film about the making of Johnston100, for TfL.
This event is supported by Monotype and brought to you by Leicester DeMontfort University, Leicester Print Workshop and Cultural Exchanges.
Tickets are FREE but need to be booked in advance via the Cultural Exchanges website.
