Exhibition: Prints – Past and Present by Chris Barker

Location: Banks Mill, Derby

Date: Until 19th May 2017

Details: Chris Barker from The Smallprint Company will be showcasing his work in this new solo exhibition and has collated a selection of his printed works created over the last 20 years.

Using a variety of processes including screen print, waterless lithography and letterpress, the works on show will represent a range of projects including the iconography and fetishism of firearms, experiments in photographic waterless lithography using images of slate and jellyfish and more recent works in typographical compositions.

Chris comments: “This is the first solo exhibition of my work and is a retrospective reflection of my love for the printed medium. I have spent over 20 years working as a commercial printer and as a printmaker and I now run an artisan print and design business called The Smallprint Company along with my wife Hannah Barker. This exhibition shows some of my experiments with different techniques and the evolution of ideas. Presently I am working in letterpress using moveable type to study letterforms and typography.”
